Overview
What this unit does
Rotogravure quality is decided on the cylinder. Our Printing Cylinders unit manufactures and engraves gravure cylinders for the group's own presses and for external converters, from base preparation and copper plating through electromechanical engraving to chrome finishing.
Bringing cylinder making in-house removes the longest external dependency in a gravure job. Repro data flows straight to the engraver, cylinders are proofed against the same colour targets, and rework happens in hours instead of days.
Used cylinders are stripped, re-plated, and re-engraved, which keeps the cost of design changes and repeat orders down.
