What this unit does
Rotogravure quality is decided on the cylinder. Our Printing Cylinders unit manufactures and engraves gravure cylinders for the group's own presses and for external converters, from base preparation and copper plating through electromechanical engraving to chrome finishing.
Bringing cylinder making in-house removes the longest external dependency in a gravure job. The repro data goes directly into the engraver; the cylinders are proofed using the same color standards; and rework is done in hours instead of days.
The used cylinders are cleaned, re-plated, and re-engraved to reduce the expense of design changes and repeat orders.
